POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves executing tasks related to the upkeep of a continuous inventory, which includes the reception and dispatch of medical supplies. The individual will maintain, distribute, and assist with the necessary supplies and patient care apparatus, fulfilling supply and patient care requests as needed. Responsibilities align with the objectives of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, providing operational support that encompasses supply management, patient care equipment preparation, and processing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Candidates must possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following tasks:

  • Sanitizes and prepares used equipment from healthcare units for reuse.
  • Manages the delivery and collection of patient care equipment to and from the requesting departments.
  • Accurately demonstrates all computer applications; consistently adheres to tracking system protocols for equipment monitoring.
  • Restocks patient care carts upon delivery, maintains the ehealth ordering system for patient care supplies, ensuring credits and charges are precise.
  • Delivers inventory and equipment to departments, restocking par locations while keeping them organized and compliant with storage standards.
  • Processes inventory, non-inventory, urgent supply orders, carts, and equipment to the appropriate department, ensuring orderly unloading and obtaining delivery confirmations where necessary.
  • In the event of product recalls, investigates all inventory locations for affected items, removes them, and replaces them with unaffected stock.
  • Utilizes MMIS, Lawson, ehealth, and/or Censitrac applications accurately for supply and equipment transactions.
  • Clears boxes, packaging materials, and debris from service areas to maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
  • Accurately retrieves departmental orders from storerooms or patient care equipment inventory.
  • Engages with customers to resolve supply and equipment-related issues and concerns.
  • Monitors stock expiration dates and removes outdated products from inventory as necessary, ensuring proper stock rotation.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following tasks are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities listed above:

  • Reports discrepancies and concerns to management through the appropriate channels.
  • Receives incoming freight, verifies received products, and accurately stores incoming stock and equipment in designated locations, documenting information in the Materials Management Information System (MMIS).
  • Conducts inventory assessments of departmental stock and equipment using handheld devices or other tools, determining replenishment needs and generating pick tickets.
  • Identifies trends in supply and equipment usage for departments and collaborates with department leaders to ensure appropriate PAR levels.
  • Engages in cycle counting and other inventory control processes as assigned.
  • Places repair items in designated areas and ensures availability of loaner items as required.
  • Prepares shipping labels, packs, and ships outbound materials.
  • Assigns and affixes asset tags when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One year of experience in product inventory, supply, or equipment handling.
  • One year of experience in customer service or support.
  • Basic computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of experience in a storeroom or warehouse environment.
  • Three years of experience in medical supply or patient care equipment service.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Advanced computer skills.
