POSITION SUMMARY:

This role involves essential functions related to the management of patient care equipment and supplies. Responsibilities include overseeing inventory levels, receiving and dispatching products, and ensuring the availability of necessary medical equipment. The position is crucial in supporting the operational objectives of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified candidates must possess the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Clean and prepare used medical equipment for reuse from healthcare units.
  • Manage the delivery and collection of patient care equipment across various departments.
  • Utilize computer applications effectively, adhering to established procedures for tracking equipment.
  • Restock patient care carts upon delivery, maintaining the ehealth ordering system for supplies, ensuring accuracy in credits and charges.
  • Deliver and replenish inventory and equipment to departments, ensuring cleanliness and organization in storage areas.
  • Process inventory, including urgent supply orders, ensuring orderly unloading and obtaining necessary delivery confirmations.
  • Investigate and address product recalls by inspecting inventory and replacing affected items.
  • Accurately utilize relevant applications for supply and equipment transactions.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by removing packaging materials and debris.
  • Efficiently pull orders from inventory for departmental needs.
  • Communicate effectively with staff to resolve supply and equipment-related issues.
  • Monitor stock expiration dates and manage inventory rotation.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities:

  • Report any discrepancies or concerns to management through the appropriate channels.
  • Receive and verify incoming shipments, ensuring accurate documentation in the Materials Management Information System (MMIS).
  • Conduct inventory assessments using handheld devices, generating replenishment tickets as needed.
  • Analyze supply usage trends and collaborate with department leaders to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Participate in cycle counting and other inventory control activities as assigned.
  • Ensure the availability of loaner items and manage repair items appropriately.
  • Prepare shipping materials and manage outbound logistics.
  • Assign asset tags as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One year of experience in inventory management or supply handling.
  • One year of experience in customer service or support roles.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years of experience in a warehouse or storeroom setting.
  • Three years of experience in medical supply or patient care equipment services.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Advanced computer skills.
