Environmental Services Specialist (Full-Time)
Work Schedule:
Day Shift, Monday to Friday, with alternating weekends
ROLE SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Manager and Administrative Supervisor, the Environmental Services Specialist is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of patient, public, clinical, and administrative areas, ensuring compliance with the standards set by Lancaster General Hospital.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidates must possess the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to execute the following tasks: Thoroughly cleans all environmental surfaces, including but not limited to furniture, beds, bathroom fixtures, window sills, door frames, vents, televisions, walls, light fixtures, and windows, adhering to universal precautions.
Utilizes wet and dry mopping techniques for rooms, hallways, stairs, bathrooms, and offices; performs spot cleaning and vacuuming of carpets.Collects and disposes of waste and soiled linens in accordance with universal precautions. Ensures supply dispensers are adequately filled.
Communicates with nursing staff regarding patient discharges/transfers, reports available patient rooms, and submits maintenance requests through the computer system.
Responds to routine requests via pager.
Removes, cleans, and reinstalls cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and window treatments. Maintains knowledge of universal precautions, MSDS, and recycling operations, applying this knowledge as necessary.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
The following tasks are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities listed above: Maintains service closets and housekeeping carts in a stocked, organized, and clean condition.
Reports any hospital property and equipment requiring repair, assists in transferring furniture, and performs spot cleaning of furniture as needed.Participates in assigned in-service training and programs. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM REQUIRED:
PREFERRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Six (6) months of experience in hospitality or medical housekeeping.
