The collaborative efforts of the PHARMACY STRATEGIC SUPPORT TEAM are vital to our achievements, involving interactions with various pharmacy departments and other divisions within AHF, as well as our patients and partners. Members of the PHARMACY STRATEGIC SUPPORT TEAM play a crucial role in fulfilling AHF's mission by offering a welcoming demeanor, a supportive voice, and a helpful attitude to patients, clients, and customers seeking services, information, or assistance with prescription transfers, grievances, or complaints.

The team members possess advanced skills and knowledge in patient care, enabling our patients to maintain a sustainable quality of life, enhance their productivity, and improve their health, which in turn supports AHF's mission and benefits society as a whole.

In their roles, they handle incoming calls, greet patients in the pharmacy, and act as problem solvers, providing assistance and a calming presence to those experiencing distress or anxiety.

The PHARMACY STRATEGIC SUPPORT TEAM enhances the experience of fellow AHF Pharmacy employees by being approachable and supportive, offering assistance when needed, and providing constructive feedback to supervisors on service improvements.

KEY SKILLS FOR SUCCESS:
Team members will be assigned to various locations, which may include travel outside their home city or state for up to two weeks at a time. Technicians in this role will be required to obtain a minimum of three different state Technician Licensures/Certifications within the first year of employment, at AHF Pharmacy's expense.

In addition to filling various schedules within AHF Pharmacies and other pharmacy units, the Pharmacy Strategic Support Team also participates in training pharmacy staff and, when appropriate, AHF Healthcare Center staff and other team members.

Team members must become proficient in AHF Pharmacy's Pharmacy Management System (PMS) and the Department of Medicines Electronic Medical Records System (EMR), along with any additional systems utilized by AHF Pharmacy.

They will also develop a comprehensive understanding of AHF Pharmacy Central Support Services (CSS), including Central Refill Center (CRC) operations and Central Billing Center (CBC) processes.

Members of the Pharmacy Strategic Support Team engage in the development and implementation of various census enhancement initiatives alongside AHF's marketing and sales teams, as well as other departments within AHF.

Through our commitment to cutting-edge medicine and advocacy, the Pharmacy Strategic Support Team participates in advocacy initiatives, which may include letter-writing campaigns, public demonstrations, and engagement with legislative and advocacy groups.

AHF Pharmacy also operates Access Centers in certain areas, designed to provide pharmacy services to small or start-up AHF Healthcare Centers lacking sufficient census or facing lease restrictions. Strategic Support Team members may staff these centers as pharmacists, technicians, or both, depending on the situation.

The AHF Department of Medicine manages several satellite clinics, typically open for limited hours or days. The Strategic Support Team provides pharmacy staffing for these clinics, focusing on capturing patients for AHF Pharmacy services and offering additional support to both patients and clinic staff.

The essence of your contributions to our mission lies in proactively building relationships, addressing challenges, and anticipating the needs of patients and AHF staff across all departments involved in service delivery.

Understanding HIPAA regulations and AHF's confidentiality standards, along with compliance policies, ensures that our patients and clients view AHF and AHF Pharmacy as trusted partners in their care and quality of life.

Maintaining a professional appearance, keeping workstations organized, assisting in training others, and contributing to an efficient and error-free workplace are essential responsibilities. Additional contributions, such as helping develop new systems and procedures, becoming knowledgeable about HIV, and cross-training in all pharmacy operations, are vital to our success.

Supporting AHF in delivering exceptional customer service, obtaining relevant certifications, and enrolling new patients into services are core responsibilities that drive AHF's growth. Additionally, being aware of competitors and their offerings is crucial for our strategic positioning.

Team members should enhance patient quality of life by participating in programs that improve adherence to therapy and treatment, communication with providers, and referrals. Timely documentation of patient interactions ensures continuity of care among AHF Pharmacy team members and providers.

Familiarity with AHF's mission, core values, and service scope, along with active participation in community activities, strengthens our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.

The Strategic Support Team plays a valuable role in sharing best practices across locations and ensuring consistent application of processes, procedures, and policies throughout the organization.

Participation in various internal and external meetings, conferences, and community events is encouraged for personal and professional growth.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED; an Associate's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician licenses or certifications in the state of employment (if required).
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (current or to be obtained within 180 days of employment).
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience as a pharmacy technician or a combination of education and experience may qualify.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Cerner/Etreby Pharmacy systems is strongly preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable (Creole in specific areas).
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy towards patients through tone, language, and counseling techniques.
  • Willingness to engage in community activities that promote AHF's mission and services.
