The collaborative efforts of the PHARMACY STRATEGIC SUPPORT TEAM are vital to our success, involving interactions with various departments within the Pharmacy and across AHF, as well as with our patients and partners. The PHARMACY STRATEGIC SUPPORT TEAM member plays a crucial role in AHF's mission by offering a welcoming demeanor, a supportive voice, and a helpful attitude to patients, clients, and customers seeking assistance, information, or wishing to transfer their prescriptions to AHF.
Team members in this Pharmacy unit possess advanced skills and knowledge that enable them to care for our patients effectively, helping them achieve a sustainable quality of life and improved health, which in turn supports AHF's mission and benefits society as a whole.
In their role, team members handle incoming inquiries, greet patients in the Pharmacy, and act as problem solvers, providing reassurance and support to patients who may be experiencing distress.
The PHARMACY STRATEGIC SUPPORT TEAM enhances the experience of fellow AHF Pharmacy employees by being approachable and supportive, offering assistance when needed, and providing constructive feedback to supervisors on service improvements.
Team members consistently add value to the AHF Pharmacy Team by adapting to various circumstances with ease and demonstrating flexibility.
Essential Skills for Success
Team members will be assigned to different locations, which may include travel outside their home city or state for periods of up to two weeks. A technician in this role will be required to obtain multiple state Technician Licensures/Certifications within a year, at AHF Pharmacy's expense.
In addition to filling various schedules in AHF Pharmacies and other pharmacy units, the Pharmacy Strategic Support Team is involved in training Pharmacy staff and, when appropriate, AHF Healthcare Center staff and other team members.
Team members must become proficient in AHF Pharmacy's Pharmacy Management System (PMS) and the Electronic Medical Records System (EMR), along with all other systems utilized by AHF Pharmacy.
Team members will also develop a comprehensive understanding of AHF Pharmacy Central Support Services, including operations at the Central Refill Center (CRC) and the Central Billing Center (CBC).
Participation in developing and implementing various census enhancement programs in collaboration with AHF marketing and sales teams, as well as other departments, is also a key responsibility.
Team members may engage in advocacy initiatives, which can include letter writing campaigns and participation in demonstrations, when appropriate.
The AHF Department of Medicine operates several satellite clinics, and the Strategic Support Team provides pharmacy staffing for these clinics, focusing on patient engagement and support.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; an Associate degree or higher is preferred.
- Current Pharmacy Technician licenses or certifications in the state of employment.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (current or to be obtained within 180 days of employment).
- Minimum of one year of recent experience as a pharmacy technician or a combination of education and experience.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Experience with Cerner/Etreby Pharmacy systems is preferred.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
- Demonstrates empathy and effective communication with patients.
- Comfortable participating in community activities that promote AHF's mission.
