Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Component Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for evaluating the performance of new and existing component technologies, and assisting in the design of prototype concepts and test hardware.
You will use a combination of first-principles engineering and computational methods to quantify the performance of system components and equipment. Your design and analysis results will directly impact ongoing technology development efforts.
Responsibilities may include mechanical design, modeling and analysis, and documenting the results of thermal, structural, fluid, and/or material performance evaluations. You may also be responsible for job automation, methods development, and integration with various testing communities and other engineering disciplines.
RequirementsCombination of Knowledge and Skill:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience;
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience;
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified;
- EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program;
- 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only);
- SRE qualified and 6 years of experience.
Previous experience with thermal and/or structural finite element analysis (FEA) using ABAQUS, ANSYS, or other commercially-available modeling tools is required. Strong problem solving, teaming, and communication skills are also essential.
