Position Overview:
The Network Architecture and Infrastructure Support Department plays a critical role in the design, installation, and upkeep of the university's data network. The University Student Assistant is vital in delivering exceptional service to the university community and its diverse stakeholders by managing the university's switchboard operations. This includes answering, transferring, and directing incoming local and long-distance calls while addressing inquiries with professionalism and courtesy. Additional responsibilities encompass assisting faculty, staff, students, and the general public with call transfers, providing directions to various locations, and other related tasks. Strong customer service, verbal communication, writing abilities, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Positions may be filled based on individual applicants' skills, qualifications, and departmental needs.
Adheres to all department and University policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate the university's switchboard by managing incoming calls and directing them appropriately while maintaining a courteous demeanor. Assist faculty, staff, students, and the general public with inquiries regarding call transfers and directions. Exhibit strong customer service skills and effective communication, both verbal and written. Utilize computerized telephone directories to assist callers in finding requested numbers and facilitate connections. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Manager as necessary.Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester. If not a first-time student, the applicant must have a GPA of or higher. Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA.Notice Regarding International Students:
