Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care and supporting administrative duties in a dynamic medical practice. As a CMA, you will assist medical and nursing staff in various tasks, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist medical and nursing staff in taking medical histories and recording vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist with laboratory tests and procedures
- Perform basic laboratory tests on the premises
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments
- Promote patient/family understanding of educational content and involvement in the plan of care
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
- Authorize drug refills and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy
- Draw blood and prepare patients for x-rays, tests, and procedures
- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
- 1-3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA
- BLS certification
- Good customer service skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff
- Typing skills and medical terminology
- Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
