Position Overview

Assistant Athletic Trainer / Educator

Department of Athletics / Department of Kinesiology


St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer / Educator. This position plays a crucial role in fulfilling the objectives of the university's mission statement, as well as the goals of both the athletic department and the kinesiology department by providing:

  • Approximately three contact hours of instruction in either a Kinesiology lecture course or various practicums in Athletic Training.
  • A secure environment for university-sponsored practices and competitions.
  • A thorough athletic training program that ensures quality care for student-athletes across 12 NCAA DII sports.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master's Degree in athletic training, kinesiology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working with kinesiology students.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Texas Department of State Health Services License required, or eligibility for licensure.
  • NATA BOC certification is mandatory.
  • NSCA CSCS certification is preferred.
  • Two to five years of athletic training experience, with a minimum of two years at the collegiate level preferred.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering instruction in a course and/or practicums within the kinesiology department.
  • Coordinating medical care for student-athletes in assigned sports.
  • Providing on-field or court athletic training services for designated sport programs.
  • Implementing effective injury prevention and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Maintaining precise medical records of athletic injuries.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
