Laurel Heights Academy, a department of Laurel Heights Hospital, a residential treatment facility located in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking an Education Specialist - Special Needs. As a member of the Universal Health Services team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality educational services to students with autism spectrum disorder.

**Job Summary:**

The Education Specialist - Special Needs will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, collaborating with teachers and other professionals to ensure seamless support, and providing training and consultation to staff members.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Develop and implement IEPs for students with autism spectrum disorder, ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to students, including behavioral interventions and educational strategies.
  • Provide training and consultation to staff members on autism-specific best practices, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Conduct regular progress monitoring and assessments to inform IEP development and implementation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated support and communication.

    **Requirements:**

    To be successful in this role, you will need:

    • A Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field, with a focus on autism spectrum disorder.
    • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, preferably in a residential treatment setting.
    • Strong knowledge of autism-specific best practices, including behavioral interventions and educational strategies.
    • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.

    Estimated Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
