Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy vehicles and machinery daily, including dump trucks and loaders, while also being available for emergency response situations.
  • Utilize equipment to transport materials, clear work sites, and assist in the movement of heavy machinery.
  • Employ hand tools and small power tools to aid in the repair and replacement of water service lines, valves, and other system components.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on assigned vehicles and machinery, ensuring operational efficiency and safety.
  • Occasionally assist as a Water Systems Maintenance Operator II for training purposes and notify the public of service interruptions.
  • Engage in physically demanding tasks as required, including lifting and operating various tools.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class "A" with necessary endorsements.
  • One year of experience operating construction machinery.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and the ability to comply with insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance for operational equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and the public.
  • Must meet physical requirements as outlined by the department.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and the capacity to perform labor in various weather conditions.

  • Moderate to heavy physical activity with exposure to varying environmental conditions.
  • Potential stress due to the demands of the role.
