Surgical Technician

The Surgical Technologist assumes responsibility and accountability for the preparation of operating rooms for surgery, utilizing appropriate techniques. This role involves performing a variety of technical duties to assist patients with surgery, maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pulling cases completely and providing all necessary equipment for the cases.
- Cooperating with other personnel to achieve department objectives and following infection control policies.
- Maintaining aseptic techniques and actively monitoring situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
- Assisting in maintaining the correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges.
- Providing comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient care and privacy.
- Identifying and caring for specimens.
- Notifying appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairing as needed.
- Assisting in clearing OR suites.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technician.
- Current BLS certification.
- Completion of a course for surgical technicians is preferred.
- Full command of the English language (verbal and written).
- Physical abilities, including heavy lifting, and perceptive acuity (e.g., visual, hearing) to satisfactorily perform assigned duties.
