Position Summary:

The Concrete Construction Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation, pouring, and finishing of concrete for a variety of construction projects. This role encompasses the removal of existing structures, concrete repairs, and trench assembly. The work is physically demanding, involving walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying potentially heavy materials. Candidates must demonstrate concentration and attention to detail over extended periods. This position entails both indoor and outdoor work environments and is characterized by a fast-paced atmosphere. Effective communication and proactive contributions to team objectives are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and dismantling concrete forms, mixing, and pouring concrete.
  • Smoothing and leveling surfaces.
  • Utilizing hand power tools to finish concrete.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Transporting materials.
  • Assisting with additional concrete-related tasks as required.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and collaborating in a team environment to ensure successful project completion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be in good physical condition, as the role involves lifting heavy materials, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Prior experience in construction or concrete work.
  • Familiarity with tools and equipment, including hand and power tools such as trowels, screeds, and concrete saws.
  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills and undertake a variety of tasks related to concrete work.
  • Possess knowledge of safety precautions necessary for working with heavy equipment and public works machinery.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Maintain all safety equipment, including but not limited to hard hats, safety vests, goggles, and steel-toed boots.
  • Must be able to wear steel-toed boots.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in construction or concrete work is required.
  • Some carpentry experience is necessary.

Education:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended shifts and possible weekends.
