Position Overview

Role Summary
As a Construction Layout Specialist, your responsibilities will include collaborating with concrete carpenters to establish precise locations for buildings, foundations, walls, embedded materials, and anchor bolts. You will ensure that all projects are executed within the specified tolerances and meet the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, establish, and maintain layout control for assigned construction projects while identifying and rectifying errors.
  2. Set up building corners and permanent reference points for accurate verification of building locations.
  3. Confirm existing elevations as depicted in drawings for roadways and utilities.
  4. Lay out column centerlines and wall placements, ensuring that the exterior structure is not compromised.
  5. Align structural steel frames and verify column placements.
  6. Establish and maintain benchmarks and control lines on each floor for layout purposes, ensuring proper elevation usage by workers.
  7. Monitor slab elevation and alignment during concrete pours.
  8. Conduct as-built surveys to confirm the correct placement of work and identify any conflicts, assisting in maintaining as-built documentation.
  9. Support project teams in obtaining certified layouts from independent engineering resources to verify building corners and roadway entries.
  10. Accurately calculate quantities of earth, rock, and concrete.
  11. Coordinate shop drawings with contract drawings, ensuring accuracy and proposing solutions for discrepancies.
  12. Maintain and calibrate engineering equipment responsibly.
  13. Compile and preserve project records and as-built documents, adhering to storage protocols.

Work Environment
The majority of work will be conducted outdoors at construction sites and in an office trailer where project monitoring and daily decision-making will occur. The role may involve exposure to loud noises from construction equipment, and protective gear is mandatory on-site.

Expected Work Hours
This is a full-time position, with the possibility of extended hours and weekend work as needed.

Travel Requirements
Minimal travel may be necessary, depending on project needs, primarily during work hours with potential overnight stays.

Physical Requirements
In this role, you will frequently engage in activities such as talking, listening, sitting, walking, reaching, kneeling, and using hands for various tasks, including operating a computer. Occasionally, you may need to lift lightweight objects (under 20 pounds).

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Building Layout and proficiency with Total Station technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Basic knowledge of Trimble and Nikon equipment.
  2. Strong understanding of research methodologies, data analysis, and estimation metrics.
  3. Experience in General Trade Carpentry.

  1. Exceptional organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  2. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  3. In-depth knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, and trade practices.
  4. Ability to interpret blueprints and estimating documents effectively.
  5. Familiarity with construction project management software.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Compensation: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 annually
