Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Inspector to join our team at Alpha Corporation. As a Construction Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Monitor contractors' work to ensure quality control and contract compliance.
  • Apply knowledge and experience to inspect roadways and bridges using industry standards and procedures.
  • Apply engineering principles to inspect and document construction activities.
  • Recommend changes to construction plans to meet field conditions or provide cost savings.
  • Review and monitor EEO/DBE documentation and compliance with contract documents.
  • Oversee, direct, and review the work of Inspectors and Inspector Trainees.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation using project management software.
  • Complete testing of materials using industry testing procedures.
  • Apply Best Management Practices to environmental inspection activities using industry standards and specifications.
  • Apply Best Management Practices to safety activities.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders, including localities and government agencies.
  • Assist with the development of change orders, investigations, and the analysis of Notices of Intent to File Claims.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years' experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
  • Experience operating computer equipment, software programs, and field-testing equipment.
  • Must be current with industry certifications or the ability to obtain:
    • ACI
    • Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field
    • Soils and Aggregate
    • ESC Inspector
    • SWM Inspector
    • Pavement Marking
    • Intermediate Work Zone
    • Flagger
    • Guardrail Installation (GRIT)
    • Asphalt Field Levels I and II
    • Slurry Surfacing
    • Surface Treatment
    • 10-hour OSHA Safety
Physical Demands

The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use their hands to handle and feel for more than 2/3 of the day. They can expect to stand or walk for more than 1/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 2/3 of the day. The ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for less than 1/3 of the day.

This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 10 pounds on an infrequent basis.

The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. They should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors. Depth perception, peripheral vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see from a distance are also necessary.
