Job Title: Per Diem Pathology Assistant

Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Per Diem Pathology Assistant to join our team in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Job Summary:

The Per Diem Pathology Assistant will be responsible for the daily supervision of the Surgical Gross Room, gross examination and sectioning of surgical pathology specimens, and determining work assignments for technologists and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Surgical Gross Room and ensure timely completion of processing of all surgical specimens.
  • Determine work assignments for technologists and technicians.
  • Coordinate functions between the Gross Room and other laboratory sections, surgery and physicians.
  • Maintain various records, logs, and files as required by department standards and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a NACCL-accredited Pathologists' Assistant educational program or equivalent experience.
  • Either (A) Bachelors Degree from a NACCL-accredited Pathologists' Assistant educational program required or (B) Bachelors degree in a job-related field plus 2 years experience working in a laboratory performing high complexity testing.
  • AAPA certification preferred.
