Job Summary

Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pathology Assistant to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Pathology Assistant, you will play a critical role in the daily supervision of the Surgical Gross Room, gross examination and sectioning of surgical pathology specimens, and determining work assignments for technologists and technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the Surgical Gross Room and ensure timely completion of processing of all surgical specimens.
  • Coordinate the surgical specimen workload of residents and serve as a technical resource.
  • Maintain various records, logs, and files as required by department standards and procedures and regulatory and accrediting organizations.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory sections, surgery, and physicians to ensure seamless coordination of functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from a NACCL-accredited Pathologists' Assistant educational program or equivalent experience.
  • AAPA certification preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as a Pathologists Assistant in an academic hospital setting preferred.
