Position Overview: The Concrete Plant Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the assigned ready-mix facility and all associated machinery, ensuring they are maintained in optimal and safe working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operations of the designated plant with precision, adhering strictly to customer orders and project specifications.
  • Interpret and utilize project specifications, customer orders, and mix designs accurately.
  • Maintain raw material inventory at appropriate levels to guarantee continuous production, placing orders as needed in accordance with the company's purchasing policies.
  • Service and maintain the plant and all related equipment to ensure they operate safely and effectively.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and reports accurately, forwarding them to the Business Office.
  • Ensure the site is well-maintained, including mowing, snow removal, proper vehicle parking, material storage, debris disposal, and control of storm and washout water.
  • Conduct basic concrete tests as required.
  • Assist in production tasks as directed, which may include operating mixer trucks or other equipment.
  • Work efficiently under tight deadlines and consistently produce high-quality work.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience operating construction or ready-mix equipment and vehicles.
  • IDOT Certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Command Data Systems is preferred but not required.
  • Possession of an appropriate CDL driver's license with all necessary endorsements, with a clean driving record.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and communicating in English.
  • Capability to perform basic mathematical functions accurately.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of company policies and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the plant's operational characteristics and maintenance requirements.
  • Familiarity with concrete materials and mix designs.
  • Proficient in using personal computers.

Work Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Pass post-offer employment drug testing and medical examinations.
  • Willingness to work in a team setting and assist colleagues as needed.
  • Availability to travel and work away from home when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this position include:

  • Normal eyesight and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to drive vehicles in various conditions for extended periods.
  • Capacity to withstand exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly and operate equipment controls for extended periods.
