About This Role

The Inside Total Loss Claims Adjuster contributes to Wawanesa's goal of delivering an exceptional claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of auto total loss claims. This role involves working directly with repair facilities, customers, and appraisers to ensure accurate and timely settlements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and empathy to customers.
  • Interpret policy wordings and determine policy coverage to ensure accurate reserving.
  • Obtain and evaluate relevant information from sources such as appraisers, third-party adjusters, contractors, and repair facilities to quantify losses and validate total loss evaluations.
  • Negotiate settlement of total loss claims with insureds, claimants, and attorneys to reach fair and equitable settlements.
  • Communicate with repair facilities, lien holders, tow facilities, and other vendors to obtain relevant information to settle claims.
  • Coordinate services with vendors and service providers, such as rental and salvage.
  • Secure documents needed to process titles and salvage of vehicles.
  • Manage pending claims and workload timely and proactively to expedite total loss settlements.
  • Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system.
  • Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and trends in the insurance industry.
  • May also manage salvage inventory by resolving release issues, setting minimum bids, reviewing bid approval requests, reviewing aging inventory, and resolving title problems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1+ years of insurance claims adjusting experience.
  • Effective customer service skills, including empathy and concern for customers.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • College/university degree is preferred.
