Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct patient care utilizing medical nutrition therapy for designated patient groups.
Provide counseling and educational services to patients with conditions requiring dietary management.
Implement nutrition care plans, communicate strategies, establish follow-up protocols, and maintain accurate documentation.

Adjust diet orders as necessary; conduct nutrient intake assessments; evaluate patients for nutritional deficiencies; assess fluid and electrolyte balance; review laboratory results and clinical notes; inform healthcare providers of patients' nutritional status and necessary dietary modifications; develop care plans and documentation.

Coordinate the efforts of dietetic support staff assigned to your area.

Contribute to educational programs sponsored by the organization for healthcare professionals, students, and the community.

Create and update educational materials related to dietary management through medical nutrition therapy.
Participate in program development aimed at enhancing departmental services and revenue.
Promote services to potential and existing referral sources; develop and implement services tailored to client needs.
Actively engage in departmental initiatives, including committees and projects.
Support the dietetic internship program as a supervised practice mentor and complete reports for productivity tracking.
Engage in professional development activities; attend and contribute to conferences and seminars on nutrition and related subjects.
Represent the organization in nutrition-related discussions.
Conduct clinical research.

Utilize clinical software applications to streamline processes and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and organizational policies.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a closely related discipline.

Certifications:
Maintain a current license to practice dietetics in the relevant state and active certification as a Licensed Nutrition Specialist.

Complexity of Work:
Requires critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently or with minimal oversight.
Must thrive in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.

Work Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience as a Licensed Nutrition Specialist in clinical nutrition.
Successful completion of a Dietetic Internship Program may fulfill the experience requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to navigate extensively to provide services to numerous patients throughout the facility and manual dexterity sufficient for computer tasks.

Must possess the physical capability to measure and weigh patients.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as necessary.
