Accountant Job Description

Aston Carter is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team in Bethesda, MD. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity that offers great room for growth and a chance to work with a leading company in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved timely.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist with audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations.
  • Maintain and update month-end close checklists and calendars.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain accruals and prepaid schedules.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather and review financial information.
  • Participate in special projects and system implementation as needed.
