Job Summary:

As an Electronics Technical Support Specialist with the Texas Department of Transportation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our building automation systems. Your expertise in electronics technical support will be essential in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the maintenance, repair, and installation of building automation computer and network equipment.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure successful completion of construction and management projects.
  • Train and assist employees in the use of various electronic equipment, creating literature and conducting presentations as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and solve complex technical software/hardware and client-server problems.
  • Assist with electrical repairs, installations, and computer wiring in departmental buildings.
  • Inspect contracted work and coordinate the contract process.
  • May serve as a lead worker and perform related tasks.
  • Order parts and equipment, maintaining records of repairs, employee time, and mileage.
  • Receive and process work orders from district sections, coordinating equipment repairs.
  • Responsible for maintaining digital systems.
  • Train technicians in equipment repair and troubleshooting.
  • Write specifications for repair parts, system components, and test equipment.

Requirements:
  • Strong technical knowledge of electronics and building automation systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
