Position: Food & Beverage Supervisor
Department: Food and Beverage
Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Overview: The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the front-of-house operations of the restaurant and gastropub, ensuring that service is efficient, well-executed, and profitable. This role adheres to the established standards and procedures set by the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of the dining and banquet areas to maintain high standards of food preparation and service.
- Manage bar operations to enhance profitability while ensuring compliance with beverage regulations.
- Assist in training and scheduling food service staff.
- Uphold standards for food quality and guest service.
- Address and resolve any complaints regarding food quality and service.
- Implement sanitary practices for food handling and maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries in a courteous manner, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Inspect pre and post-shift tasks and cleanliness of service areas.
- Work during weekends and holidays as required.
- Maintain effective communication regarding policies, procedures, and hotel objectives with staff.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Qualifications: A high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and leadership qualities are essential. Knowledge of health department regulations and liquor laws is required. The ability to present and train staff on food and beverage topics clearly is necessary.
Education/Experience: A High School Diploma is required; a College Degree is preferred. Previous experience in banquet service is essential.
Language Skills: Proficient verbal and written communication skills with guests, colleagues, and management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and Word; ability to create basic spreadsheets and compose emails. Familiarity with POS systems is essential.
Physical Requirements: The role involves standing, walking, and bending throughout shifts, as well as moving and lifting tables and chairs, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Customer Focus: Providing exceptional customer service is paramount. Positive interactions with guests and colleagues are crucial for a favorable guest experience.
Work Ethic: Adherence to hotel standards for work procedures, appearance, punctuality, and attendance is expected. Adaptability to changes in procedures and a willingness to learn new skills are important.
Safety and Security: The safety and security of guests and staff are top priorities. Compliance with hotel security policies and procedures is mandatory.
Compensation: Salary range: $18-$20 per hour.
