Position Overview:
The Operational Risk Management Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing and implementing risk management strategies within the Banking & Investment Services sector. This position is essential for ensuring that risk programs are effectively integrated and maintained within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of Operational Risk Management initiatives, including the reporting of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and conducting comprehensive Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
- Generate detailed risk management reports to monitor the risk profile of the assigned department.
- Collaborate with department managers to design, document, and implement effective controls and process maps as necessary.
- Work alongside various risk management teams to evaluate new regulations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee audits and examinations, assisting in the formulation of management responses and tracking outstanding items to resolution.
- Coordinate departmental support in response to enterprise-wide regulatory findings.
- Assist in documenting and remediating Self-Identified Audit Issues and Operational Risk Events.
- Act as a risk management consultant in the development of new products and operational processes.
- Research and analyze regulatory developments, providing guidance to management on compliance matters.
- Analyze Access Management status and report findings to centralized technology teams.
- Evaluate risk metrics and performance data to enhance workflow processes and update relevant policies.
- Develop necessary documentation such as Quarterly Risk Review (QRR) and Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) artifacts.
- Provide insights on risk and control matters, including conducting risk training and preparing for resolutions.
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of experience in risk and control management within a financial institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of operational experience in the banking sector.
- 3 years of experience in operational risk management control design and testing.
- 2 years of leadership or project management experience.
Skills and Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of banking operations and associated risks, with a focus on Quality Assurance (QA) programs and KRIs.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements pertinent to banking operations.
- Proficient in building relationships and collaborating effectively across various organizational levels.
- Ability to work autonomously while achieving established objectives.
- Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills, complemented by strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capable of analyzing complex situations and providing sound recommendations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to tailor information for diverse audiences.
