Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Autism Education Professional to join our team at Gersh Autism in Downtown Brooklyn, New York.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement daily instructional programs to drive superior student achievement through in-class instruction.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents/caretakers to ensure successful student participation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest software programs and tools used for instruction and be prepared to utilize digital platforms when applicable.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment by utilizing motivational skills and strategies to encourage students to learn and engage in their own education.
  • Develop and submit daily and weekly lesson plans that align with each student's IEP goals.
  • Record daily attendance, including start and end times of classroom instruction.
  • Complete required daily session notes documenting the implementation of the daily lesson plan, including objectives, activities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Participate in CSE/IEP meetings as needed and update IEPs/goals accordingly.
  • Cultivate relationships with parents to support their child's daily learning and provide coaching and mentorship as needed.
  • Prepare resources, lesson plans, and materials for classes.
  • Monitor and document student participation, progress, and roadblocks to inform instruction.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health care, retirement plan, life insurance, paid time off, family leave, and training and development opportunities.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in education, special education, or a related field, or professional certification.
  • Experience working with students with ADHD, LD, HFA, and other related disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis and assessment/report writing a plus.
  • Teaching experience in Math and Science an asset.
Work Environment

This full-time position is based in a school/classroom setting in Downtown Brooklyn, New York, with occasional before and after-school work hours possible.
