Job Summary

The California Northern Pretrial Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Intensive Supervision Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing high-quality investigation and supervision services to enhance community safety while respecting the presumption of innocence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations of defendants' backgrounds, risk assessments, and develop appropriate alternatives to non-compliant behavior.
  • Utilize expert knowledge of specialized programs and available resources to provide effective supervision and support.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to ensure public safety and compliance with court orders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with defendants, their families, and community partners to promote positive outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with federal law and the criminal justice system, including policies and procedures related to Federal Probation and Pretrial Services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field such as criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relations, business, or public administration.
  • Three years of specialized experience, including at least one year as a CL-28 pretrial services officer.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with defendants, stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Physical ability to perform moderate to arduous physical activity, including prolonged periods of walking and standing.
