Position Overview:

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for addressing health issues and coordinating care for pediatric patients, adhering to established professional standards and hospital protocols. This role involves collaboration with the medical team to deliver care in an inpatient rehabilitation environment. The Nurse Practitioner brings a robust knowledge base, advanced assessment capabilities, and specialized skills to provide age-appropriate interventions. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner plays a vital role in educating both staff and patients, contributing significantly to the healthcare team.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in advanced practice nursing relevant to the specialty area,
  • 3-5 years of nursing experience,
  • Experience with infants, children, and young adults with complex medical needs is preferred,
  • APN certification from the State of NJ; current national certification in the specialty area is required,
  • American Heart Association: BLS and PALS Provider Certification is mandatory,
  • Experience with pediatric patients with medical complexities is advantageous.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time
  • Day Shift
  • 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive medical care to patients admitted to the inpatient facilities, leading a multidisciplinary team to support children in achieving their maximum potential,
  • Provide on-call coverage as necessary on a rotating schedule,
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of diagnoses, relevant medical findings, treatment rationales, and interventions through practice and documentation,
  • Initiate and lead teams to address comprehensive patient care needs using effective and quality-driven methods,
  • Employ High Reliability Organization tools to enhance patient safety and communication,
  • Act as a care coordinator based on the practice site requirements,
  • Ensure continuity and completeness of care beyond basic needs,
  • Integrate relevant research findings into practice, education, and consultation,
  • Encourage staff performance improvement, fostering enhanced departmental outcomes,
  • Support professional development through training and orientation sessions,
  • Maintain credentials and continuing education in line with professional standards and regulations,
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide service provision to meet customer expectations,
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with colleagues and external contacts,
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the implementation of Patient and Family Centered Care practices,
  • Participate in team meetings to promote an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare delivery,
  • Contribute to the education of students by serving as a lecturer and preceptor in clinical settings,
  • Maintain accurate billing and provide outpatient services to pediatric patients as necessary,
  • Identify knowledge and skill gaps through self-assessment and performance evaluations.
