Work Environment: This position requires on-site work five days a week, with the possibility of remote work one day per week after an initial training period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support primarily Medical Oncology interventional studies (phases I to III) involving Solid Tumors, Lung, Head and Neck, Melanoma, and Neurology, under the guidance of the Clinical Research Study Site Leader.
  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate oncology nursing care while coordinating with the clinical team, investigators, and various departments to ensure compliance with protocol requirements and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
  • Assist physicians in preparing and executing new clinical trials, screen and enroll study participants, and provide protocol-related clinical management throughout the study duration.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and prioritize patient needs, ensuring accurate and complete medical records in alignment with study protocols.
  • Manage patient documentation, phone communications, and administrative tasks on non-clinic days, ensuring all orders are accurate and complete.
  • Collaborate with the Protocol Activation office to initiate and activate new clinical trial protocols using the Oncore Study-startup task list.
  • Review patient charts and medical histories to verify protocol eligibility and gather necessary source documents.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in core tasks such as reporting Serious Adverse Events (SAE), accessing protocol attachments, and managing patient study calendars.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a valid nursing license in New Jersey.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a hospital environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in an Oncology specialty within a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Experience in a clinical research role is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to assertively communicate with physicians regarding patient information relevant to study protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with other departments and translating complex information for patients.
  • Proficient in document management and familiar with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of thriving in a dynamic, academic, and diverse environment.
  • Proactive in seeking knowledge and asking questions in a learning-oriented setting.
  • Competent in using clinical trial management systems and medical records databases.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role involves standing, sitting, walking, visual perception, talking, and hearing, with the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Vitalief partners with major medical centers and academic institutions, which may require all on-site personnel to be vaccinated annually for Influenza and successfully pass a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
