Job Summary:

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent healthcare provider responsible for assessing and managing health issues in children, adhering to established professional standards and institutional protocols. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver care in an inpatient rehabilitation environment. The Nurse Practitioner is expected to have a robust knowledge base and apply advanced clinical skills, specialized expertise, and age-appropriate interventions. Education for both staff and patients is a key component of this role, and the Nurse Practitioner is a vital member of the healthcare team.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in advanced practice nursing relevant to the area of specialization,
  • 3-5 years of nursing experience,
  • Experience with pediatric patients, particularly those with complex medical needs, is preferred,
  • Current APN certification from the state, along with national certification in the specialty area,
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-Time
  • Day Shift
  • 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive medical care to pediatric patients in inpatient settings, leading the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes,
  • Provide on-call coverage as required on a rotating schedule,
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of diagnoses, treatment rationales, and medical interventions through documentation and practice,
  • Initiate and guide teams to address comprehensive patient care needs using effective and efficient methods,
  • Employ High Reliability Organization principles to enhance patient safety and communication,
  • Act as a care coordinator as needed based on the practice site,
  • Ensure continuity and thoroughness of care beyond basic requirements,
  • Integrate relevant research findings into clinical practice, education, and consultation,
  • Encourage staff performance improvement, contributing to enhanced departmental outcomes,
  • Support professional development through training and educational sessions,
  • Maintain professional credentials and continuing education in line with industry standards and regulations,
  • Oversee the development and execution of policies and procedures that enhance service delivery to meet patient expectations,
  • Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and external partners,
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols in consultation with collaborating physicians,
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the implementation of Patient and Family Centered Care practices,
  • Participate in team meetings to promote an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare delivery,
  • Engage in the education of nursing students through lectures and clinical supervision,
  • Ensure accurate billing and provide outpatient services as necessary,
  • Identify personal knowledge and skill development needs through self-assessment and performance evaluations.
