Job Title: Senior Director of Operations

Are you a seasoned leader with a passion for animal welfare? Do you have experience managing teams and overseeing shelter operations? We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Director of Operations to join our team at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our shelter, including managing a team of staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring the highest level of animal care and welfare. This is a critical role that requires a strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the shelter, including animal care, intake, and adoption processes
  • Manage a team of staff, including direct reports and indirect reports, to ensure the smooth operation of the shelter
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of animal care and welfare
  • Collaborate with other departments, including veterinary services and behavior, to ensure seamless operations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including animal welfare and safety standards
  • Develop and manage budgets to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, including responding to inquiries and resolving issues
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in animal shelter management or a related field
  • Proven track record of success in managing teams and overseeing shelter operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Knowledge of animal welfare laws and regulations
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets
