Senior Director of Operations

We're seeking a Senior Director of Operations to join our team at the ASPCA's Recovery & Rehabilitation Center (R&R Center) in Pawling, NY.

About the Role

The Senior Director of Operations will oversee the daily operations of the R&R Center, ensuring the smooth functioning of all aspects of the shelter, including animal care, volunteer management, and facility maintenance. This is a critical role that requires a strong leader who can inspire and motivate a team of dedicated professionals to achieve our mission of providing a safe and nurturing environment for animals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve the R&R Center's goals and objectives
  • Lead and manage a team of direct reports, including the Manager of Placement & Transport, Senior Manager of Volunteers & Foster, and Senior Manager of Care & Enrichment
  • Oversee the daily operations of the shelter, including animal care, volunteer management, and facility maintenance
  • Collaborate with other R&R Center leadership to develop and implement programs and services that support the shelter's mission
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to animal welfare and shelter operations
  • Develop and manage budgets, including personnel, supplies, and equipment
  • Represent the R&R Center at local, state, and national levels, as needed
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in animal shelter operations, with a proven track record of leadership and management
  • Strong knowledge of animal welfare laws, regulations, and standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
