We are on the lookout for candidates for the role of Assistant Construction Manager Trainee within our Cleveland Division. This is a full-time, entry-level position offering professional development and career progression within an award-winning national homebuilder. As an Assistant Construction Manager Trainee, you will gain valuable experience by supporting an experienced Construction Manager on-site in high-volume communities or across multiple locations, all while participating in a structured training program.

The Assistant Construction Manager Trainee Program is designed to equip and develop trainees for future Construction Manager roles at Drees Homes. Trainees will be exposed to every aspect of the construction process, from customer plan signing through the first year's warranty program. Training will encompass shadowing, classroom instruction, and hands-on experience through a formalized program consisting of nine modules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the progress and quality of all construction projects
  • Establish and uphold high performance standards for subcontractors and suppliers
  • Manage costs by overseeing material usage
  • Proactively address customer inquiries regarding the building process
  • Engage actively in subdivision and model maintenance
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and other safety protocols
  • Create punch lists for framing, mechanical, and insulation
  • Utilize internal software/systems to track job completion progress
  • Perform additional duties as required

  • Ability to assist with scheduling, cost management, and quality assurance
  • Self-motivated individual with a high energy level and a positive outlook
  • Capability to hold subcontractors accountable for their work
  • Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and customer-centric approach

Requirements:

  • 2 or 4-year degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred
  • Experience in construction (this may include internships or short-term positions during education)
  • Basic computer skills; experience with an iPad is advantageous
