Job Overview

Position Summary: An Underwater Operations Specialist is a diving expert responsible for executing a variety of underwater tasks while maintaining the necessary skills required for all diving personnel. This role may involve extensive travel and requires readiness for emergency call-outs.

Classification: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all tasks as directed by the Diving Supervisor, promptly reporting any concerns regarding qualifications.
  • Understand and adhere to all company policies and relevant regulations during diving operations.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and testing of diving equipment.
  • Communicate any recent medical issues to the Diving Supervisor to assess fitness for diving.
  • Report any symptoms or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Practice safe diving protocols at all times, prioritizing the safety of oneself and others.
  • Assist in training new divers and support personnel.
  • Remain alert and in proximity to the decompression chamber following any hyperbaric exposure.
  • Maintain a detailed diver's logbook, documenting all dives and medical evaluations.
  • Ensure all medical certifications are current and recorded appropriately.
  • Present the logbook to the Diving Supervisor for review on each assignment.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications in first aid and CPR.
  • Follow established quality management processes and complete assigned administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from a recognized professional diving school.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute dive operations involving decompression.
  • Knowledge of decompression procedures and treatment tables.
  • Ability to pass an annual diving physical; significant physical effort is required.
  • Willingness to accept exposure to physical risks.
  • Possession of necessary certifications and clearances.
  • Willingness to travel globally on short notice.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Offshore Diver 2.
  • Documented experience with the company and a minimum of 250 days in the field.
  • Completion of the Offshore Diver 1 Proficiency Checklist.
  • Successful completion of the Offshore Diver 1 Test.
  • Demonstrated diving experience with a minimum of 150 working dives.
  • Experience with deep dives and mixed gas procedures.
  • Recommendations for promotion from supervisory personnel.
  • Ability to set up a mixed gas dive station competently.
  • Familiarity with various diving procedures.
  • Experience leading dive projects with a team.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug testing.
  • Completion of requirements for progression from Offshore Tender 1 to Offshore Diver 2.
