Position Overview

SUMMARY:

The Patient Care Assistant plays a vital role in the healthcare team, providing essential support under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This position involves assisting with direct patient care by performing essential nursing-related tasks. The role may involve handling biological materials, which carries a risk of exposure to infectious agents. The Patient Care Assistant will work with patients across various age demographics, including adolescents and the elderly. Accountability for this position lies with the Director of Medical/Surgical Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Must possess a valid California Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and must complete ABM/MAB/CPI certification within 90 days of hire, with annual renewals thereafter.
  • Language Proficiency: Must have full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Physical Abilities: The role requires physical capabilities, including the ability to lift heavy objects and possess perceptive acuity, such as visual and auditory skills, to effectively perform all aspects of patient care. A review of the physical demands and working conditions for this role is essential.
