POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Care Assistant plays a vital role in the healthcare team, working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to deliver essential patient care. This position involves performing various non-professional nursing tasks and may include handling biological materials, which necessitates adherence to safety protocols to mitigate exposure to infectious agents.
AGE GROUPS:
The Patient Care Assistant may provide care for individuals across different age ranges, including adolescents and seniors.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
This role reports directly to the Director of Medical/Surgical Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid California C.N.A Certification, Basic Life Support (BLS); must obtain ABM/MAB/CPI certification within 90 days of employment and maintain it annually.
- Language Proficiency: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Physical Demands: The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy objects and possess sensory acuity, such as visual and auditory skills, to effectively perform all aspects of patient care.
