Waste Collection Specialist

Position Overview:
The Roll-Off Driver is tasked with delivering waste management services in a safe, efficient, and professional manner across various business sectors. This role involves the collection of waste from client locations and transporting it to designated facilities for appropriate disposal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate roll-off trucks and related equipment for waste collection.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and maintain required documentation.
- Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team and supervisors promptly.
- Adhere to established route quality standards set by management.
- Utilize proper techniques to minimize mechanical failures during operation.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations related to vehicle operation and waste handling.
- Identify and communicate potential hazards to supervisors before commencing tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, both inside and out.
- Report all incidents or accidents to supervisors immediately.
- Present a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with clients and the public.
- Wear all necessary personal protective equipment at all times.
- Keep accurate records of services rendered.
- Collaborate with supervisors to enhance routing efficiency.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- May be required to work additional hours as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
- At least one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
- Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
- Proven ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Capability to operate necessary vehicles and equipment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic mathematical skills for job-related calculations.
- Ability to complete reports and documentation accurately.
- Comprehension of company policies and procedures.
- Common sense reasoning for problem-solving and instruction following.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
- Visual acuity for safe vehicle operation in various conditions.
- Regularly lift and move items weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Work in potentially loud environments.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.
- Frequent operation of vehicles in high-traffic areas.
- Potential for working at heights and in confined spaces.
