Position Overview:

The Roll-Off Driver is tasked with the safe and efficient delivery of waste collection services to various clients across different sectors. This role involves the transportation of waste materials from customer locations to designated disposal facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate roll-off trucks and associated equipment for waste collection.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, completing necessary documentation such as daily reports and route sheets.
  • Report any mechanical issues with the vehicle to the maintenance team and supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere to route quality standards set by management.
  • Utilize prescribed techniques to minimize mechanical failures during operation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations related to vehicle operation and waste handling.
  • Identify and communicate potential hazards before commencing waste collection tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, ensuring both interior and exterior are kept in good condition.
  • Report any accidents or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Exhibit professionalism in demeanor and appearance while interacting with customers and the public.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Keep accurate records of services rendered.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to enhance routing efficiencies.
  • Participate in safety meetings and branch discussions.
  • Be available for overtime work as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate the truck and equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Capability to operate necessary vehicles and equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills applicable to job functions.
  • Ability to produce simple reports and documentation.
  • Comprehension of company policies and procedures.
  • Common sense reasoning for following instructions and solving problems.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to see close and distant objects, as well as depth perception.
  • Regularly lift and move weights ranging from 10 to 100 pounds.
  • Driving may require sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in loud environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
  • Work involves frequent exposure to noise and moving mechanical parts.
  • May involve working in high places and in traffic conditions.
