Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Electro-Optical Systems Engineer/Architect to join our team at Arka Service. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in defining the architecture of complex Electro-Optical (EO) systems and leading the design and development of innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and shape customer requirements to assist business development in defining opportunity spaces for future contracts.
  • Develop top-level system architecture for mission solutions, including optical and electronic design requirements, on-board processing, platform interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
  • Define, execute, and oversee system design trades to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with requirements.
  • Interface with customers throughout the product life cycle as the lead technical representative of the product development team.
  • Lead program teams, including other engineering disciplines, to develop optical system design concepts and decompose system requirements to lower-level assemblies and components.
  • Prepare and present materials for formal design reviews and customer meetings.
  • Define and lead internal Research and Development (IR&D) projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with 12+ years of relevant work experience or 10 years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree.
  • Proven technical leadership skills, with experience in architecting and developing imaging system solutions for spaceborne missions.
  • Knowledge of EO industry technical capabilities, including focal planes, electronics, and mission-level performance requirements.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience in proposal content, requirements specifications, verification matrices, verification plans, and verification reports.
  • Experience in program planning, including scope definition, resourcing, and budgeting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in architecting and developing imaging system solutions for spaceborne missions.
  • Knowledge of EO industry technical capabilities, including focal planes, electronics, and mission-level performance requirements.
  • Familiarity with mission-level phenomenology, including Solar illuminated signal and thermal emission of objects and background/clutter.
