Logistics Operations Supervisor
The Logistics Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing labor management, planning, and execution of inbound and outbound logistics, product organization, and customer interaction on a daily basis. This includes managing labor schedules, optimizing space utilization, and ensuring effective use of equipment and workforce. Key responsibilities also encompass hiring and training staff, assigning daily tasks, conducting performance evaluations, addressing any performance-related issues, and resolving operational challenges. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager or Distribution Center Manager, the Supervisor is accountable for the efficient receiving, storage, and dispatch of products, aligning with the company's service and cost objectives.
As a member of the DSV team, employees are expected to achieve organizational goals in performance, safety, and quality. Compliance with all corporate and site-specific policies is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate staff meetings to discuss daily and weekly operational activities, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Keep upper management and client representatives updated on critical operational issues.
- Establish systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably.
- Achieve productivity and service targets while adhering to quality system requirements.
- Provide necessary guidance and support, evaluating the progress of trainees.
- Conduct regular meetings with warehouse personnel to assess overall team performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Completion of a forklift training program is necessary.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and personnel management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college education is preferred.
- 2-4 years of supervisory experience is advantageous.
- 2-4 years of forklift operation experience is preferred.
- Current or prior certification in Material Handling Equipment (MHE) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to use their hands for various tasks, including handling objects, reaching, stooping, kneeling, talking, and hearing. The role requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for up to 8 hours per day.
Work Environment
Employees are rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate.
