Job Description

Job Summary:

The Operations Supervisor is a key member of the DSV team, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the distribution center. This includes supervising warehouse associates, managing labor scheduling, and ensuring the efficient movement of products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily staff meetings to review work activities and plan for continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and client representatives to ensure seamless operations.
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures to manage operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and provide ideas for more efficient operations.
  • Meet client-specified KPIs and comply with quality system requirements.
  • Manage the operations to achieve prescribed objectives, applying sound communication and motivational techniques.
  • Supervise warehouse staff, including training and evaluation responsibilities.
  • Plan daily work schedules, assessing priorities and assigning duties to warehouse staff.
  • Review pending jobs and trends, planning for reorganization of warehouse space and necessary changes in supplies, equipment, or staffing needs.
  • Train new staff in assigned duties and assess their progress.
  • Keep informed of quantity and quality of jobs being performed, providing guidance and advice as necessary.
  • Assign supervisory duties to experienced team members and keep them informed of progress or problems.
  • Keep the Manager advised of progress or problems requiring attention on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the physical operations as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 3 years of experience working in a logistics/distribution/relevant environment.
  • 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Able to operate MHE.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some college education.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • 2-4 years of forklift experience.
  • Current or prior MHE certification.

Physical Demands:

The employee uses their hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements include close vision and distance vision. The employee must be able to lift up to 40 lbs while following proper lifting procedures. The employee must be able to stand on feet for up to 8 hours per day.

Work Environment:

The employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
