Sampson Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its Laboratory team


Job Summary:

The selected candidate will be responsible for registering patients using our Laboratory Outreach system, scanning laboratory documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and obtaining specimens from patients using appropriate techniques. This includes collecting blood samples by capillary, arterial, and venipuncture, as well as transporting, receiving, centrifuging, aliquoting, and distributing specimens to reference labs. Additionally, the successful candidate will maintain the reference lab system and files, manage supply inventory, and receive and distribute incoming supplies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Registration and Specimen Collection: Register patients using Lab Outreach and collect blood samples using capillary, arterial, and venipuncture techniques.
  • Specimen Processing: Transport, receive, centrifuge, aliquot, and distribute specimens to reference labs.
  • Supply Management: Maintain supply inventory and receive and distribute incoming supplies.
  • Reference Lab Management: Maintain the reference lab system and files.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training: Successful completion of a phlebotomy training program.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 1 year of college with courses in mathematics and biology, National Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician, and computer skills and knowledge of Medical Terminology.
