About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled EKG Technician to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As an EKG Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing electrocardiogram tests and maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of EKG equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for EKG tests, educates them on the procedure, and ensures their comfort and safety throughout the process.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures, including 12-lead electrocardiograms, and documents patient records accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring the proper functioning of EKG equipment.
  • Collaborates with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care, communicating effectively and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Stays up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge, technologies, and procedures, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications, with a working knowledge of 12-lead EKG tests and arrhythmia recognition.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts, with a strong commitment to patient care and safety.
