Position Overview:


We are in search of a Senior Grant Accountant responsible for the financial oversight of various programs and associated funding sources aimed at supporting our initiatives.

This role involves preparing financial statements, conducting analyses, and developing budgets and narratives for funding proposals in collaboration with program leadership.

The incumbent will also execute routine accounting functions, review accounts payable entries, monitor budgets, and assist in supervising the work of other team members engaged in grant and contract activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for stakeholders and program management.
  • Track expenditures and budgets for assigned grants, reporting any discrepancies to the program director.
  • Develop budgets and compile reports, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Conduct grant close-out processes, including reconciliations and submission of final reports.
  • Record monthly revenues and manage receivables.
  • Review cash drawdowns to ensure adherence to agency policies.
  • Ensure accuracy in general ledger entries and prepare necessary adjustments.
  • Evaluate accounts payable transactions for proper coding and compliance.
  • Participate in monthly meetings to present financial updates.
  • May undertake additional tasks to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Required Skills:


Proficient knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, cost allocation, and non-profit accounting principles; strong computer skills, particularly in Excel; familiarity with computerized accounting systems; and experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with Blackbaud Finance Edge NXT is advantageous.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with a focus on accounting.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, including financial statement preparation and reconciliations.
  • Experience in non-profit accounting and financial reporting for government-funded programs is preferred.
