Brief Summary of Job Duties:
The Assistant Production & Operations Manager is responsible for managing the technical production, facility requirements, and equipment needs for the Music Department's events. This role includes supervising technical support for rehearsals, performances, master classes, and guest artists.
Under the guidance of the Production and Events Manager (PEM), the individual will handle various operational duties, manage scheduling, monitor the physical plant for maintenance needs, and submit and track work orders for necessary repairs.
The Operations Manager collaborates with student, community, and campus organizations utilizing department facilities for events, particularly during periods when departmental music events are less frequent.
Required Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in stage technician skills including lighting and sound.
1-3 years of experience with and technical understanding of AV equipment, stage lighting, and sound equipment, instruments, and tools.
Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure with frequent interruptions.
Effective and cooperative team member.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; basic proficiency with database software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Solid knowledge of Audio/Video equipment, stage lighting, and sound recording.
Strong customer relations skills.
Ability to lead a team.
Familiarity with stagecraft and theater operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience with Event Production & Management.
1-3 years of experience with Sound Recording and Engineering.
1-3 years of experience with set building and other aspects of stagecraft.
Proficient in Theater Operations and Stagecraft.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and/or training.
Special Conditions of Employment:

Technical Supervisor:
Serves as the on-site Stage Manager for performances in department spaces and occasional off-campus venues.
20% Facilities, Scheduling, Keys, and Operations: Responsible for the daily management of facilities used by department staff, faculty, students, ensembles, and classes.
15%Production Management:
Assists with set building, shop operations, production administration, and the training of student ushers, technicians, and house management staff.
15%Sound Engineering:
Responsible for facilitating and engineering students' academic recording projects.
5% Purchasing: Responsible for purchasing supplies and preparing billing for department space and equipment rentals.
