Position:
Orthopedic Medical Assistant

Location:
Ridgewood, New Jersey

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 36-40 hours per week
Shifts may vary, starting between 8-10 AM or noon, concluding between 5-7 PM
Flexibility in scheduling is required

Compensation:
$24 – $26 per hour (temporary position)

Required Qualifications:
While certification or registration is preferred, it is not mandatory
BLS/CPR certification is essential
A minimum of 6-12 months of orthopedic experience is required
At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
Familiarity with EMR systems is advantageous
Phlebotomy skills are a plus
Experience with ultrasound is beneficial
High school diploma or equivalent is necessary

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations, escort them to the examination room, and assist the physician during treatment procedures as needed.
- Act as a liaison with the orthopedic specialist to ensure smooth scheduling of appointments.
- Document patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
- Sterilize medical equipment before and after use to prevent infection.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of treatment rooms.
- Create and update patient charts with relevant health information and progress notes.
- Manage inventory of medications and clinical supplies.
- Apply braces and splints as necessary.
- Perform basic procedures such as finger punctures for hemoglobin testing and possible venipuncture for PRP injections.
- Assist with the removal of sutures, staples, and casts.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked and prepared for patient visits.
- Process prescriptions for patients at their preferred pharmacies when required.

Administrative Duties:
On designated administrative days, the following tasks will be performed:

- Prepare charts for the following day by confirming test results and patient history.
- Complete tasks and orders from healthcare providers, including refills and imaging requests.
- Handle incoming calls from physicians and patients, addressing inquiries and facilitating communication regarding treatment.
- Maintain communication with the office PA/Clinical Lead and escalate issues as necessary.
- Oversee inventory management, including BREG supplies.
