Orthopedic Care Assistant

Position:
Orthopedic Medical Assistant

Location:
Ridgewood, New Jersey

Work Schedule:
Full-time, 36-40 hours per week
Shifts may vary, starting between 8-10 AM or noon, concluding between 5-7 PM
Flexibility is required, especially on Wednesdays when operations extend until 7 PM.

Compensation:
$24 – $26 per hour for temporary positions

Required Qualifications:
- Certification or registration is preferred but not mandatory
- BLS/CPR certification is essential
- Minimum of 6-12 months of orthopedic experience is required
- At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
- Familiarity with EMR systems is advantageous
- Phlebotomy skills are a plus
- Experience with ultrasound is beneficial
- High school diploma or equivalent is necessary

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for examinations, escort them to treatment rooms, and assist physicians during procedures as needed
- Act as a liaison with orthopedic specialists to manage appointment scheduling and ensure operational efficiency
- Document patient medical histories and vital signs accurately
- Sterilize medical equipment and manage waste disposal to prevent infection
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of treatment rooms
- Update and manage patient charts with relevant health information and progress notes
- Oversee inventory management for medications and clinical supplies
- Assist with the application of braces and splints
- Perform occasional finger punctures for hemoglobin testing
- Conduct venipuncture for PRP injections when necessary
- Remove sutures, staples, and casts as required
- Prepare and stock examination rooms for patient visits
- Process prescriptions for patients as needed.

Administrative Duties:
- On designated administrative days, complete the following tasks:

- Prepare charts for the following day by confirming test results and patient history
- Manage tasks and orders from healthcare providers, including refills and imaging requests
- Handle incoming calls from patients and physicians, addressing inquiries and facilitating communication regarding treatment
- Maintain open communication with the office PA/Clinical Lead and escalate issues as necessary
- Manage inventory, including BREG supplies.
