JOB TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Implements, assesses, and modifies care plans in collaboration with the Registered Nurse or Nurse in Charge.
  • Conducts continuous evaluations of patients and documents findings in accordance with established protocols; applies age-specific standards and policies effectively.
  • Performs essential patient care tasks, including monitoring vital signs and managing wound dressings.
  • Observes patients closely and communicates any adverse reactions to medications or treatments to the supervising medical staff.
  • Contributes to the ongoing evaluation and care planning for patients, ensuring accurate and objective charting.
  • Administers prescribed medications following established guidelines and records the time and dosage in patient charts.
  • Collects various specimens, such as urine, blood, and sputum, for laboratory analysis and may conduct routine tests on samples.
  • Utilizes knowledge of developmental stages in interactions with patients and their families.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures, particularly those related to conduct, compliance, diversity, and confidentiality.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Possession of a valid Louisiana State License.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in an acute care environment.
  • BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider; current CPR certification required.
