POSITION TITLE :
Practical Nursing Specialist (PNS)

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES :


Facilitates, assesses, and modifies the care plan in alignment with the anticipated patient outcomes in collaboration with the Registered Nurse or Nurse Supervisor.


Conducts continuous evaluations of patient conditions and maintains documentation in accordance with established protocols; showcases the appropriate application of age-specific standards, policies, and procedures.

Performs essential patient care tasks as required, including monitoring vital signs and managing wound dressings.

Monitors patients closely and communicates any adverse reactions to medications or treatments to the supervising medical staff.

Participates in the ongoing evaluation and care planning for patients, ensuring objective charting.

Administers prescribed medications following established protocols and accurately records the time and dosage in patient charts.


Collects diagnostic specimens, such as urine, blood, and sputum, for laboratory analysis and may conduct routine tests on samples.

Employs concepts of age and developmental stages in interactions with patients and their families.

Complies with all organizational Policies and Procedures, particularly those regarding Appropriate Conduct, Corporate Compliance, Diversity, and Confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program.

Possess an active Louisiana State License.

Preferred: One year of experience in an acute care environment.

BLS-Healthcare provider certification. Current CPR certification.
