The Amazon Private Brands Discovery team is dedicated to helping customers find and engage with new, trending, and relevant products and categories from our private brands across the globe.

We achieve this by merging technology, science, innovation, and creativity to create new customer-facing features and experiences.

Your Profile:
You are a Lead Software Engineer looking to tackle complex challenges at scale.

You aspire to enhance your creative problem-solving skills and technical expertise to deepen your knowledge in the discovery domain.

You take ownership, are passionate about the business, and are committed to optimizing and enhancing our deliverables, enabling the business to operate efficiently.

You collaborate effectively with product managers, applied scientists, and partner teams. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and are willing to develop rapid prototypes, iterate, and refine. You design scalable architectures and maintainable solutions with a long-term perspective. You assess and make decisions regarding the adoption of new or existing software products and tools. You also mentor junior engineers.


The team presents highly motivated engineers with diverse challenges in building world-class, highly available service technologies, managing big data, and delivering machine learning-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities


As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be accountable for designing, developing, testing, and deploying distributed systems and large-scale solutions for our customer base.

In this role, you will collaborate with leaders, work backward from customer needs, identify challenges, propose innovative solutions, and continuously elevate standards.

You will also influence system architecture, promote best practices that ensure a quality product, and assist in coaching and developing junior engineers.

A successful candidate will possess a solid background in engineering large-scale software systems, exceptional technical skills, strong communication abilities, and a drive to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of professional software development experience

5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language

5+ years of experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scalability) of new and existing systems

Experience as a mentor, technical lead, or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of comprehensive software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across various US geographic markets.

The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is determined by several factors including market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
