    Job Overview:
  • Diagnoses and repairs complex issues in various transit vehicle systems under general supervision.
  • Conducts troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and installation of component parts for transit vehicles.
  • Inspects and identifies issues on all assigned transit vehicles and equipment.
  • Services and repairs all assigned transit vehicles and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections on transit vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Implements upgrades and modifications on vehicle systems and equipment.
  • Handles road calls and performs on-site repairs as necessary.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Driving License Class B with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements (Paid training available)
Preferred Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
  • Three H or T series ASE certifications preferred, with at least two including H2, T2, T4, or H4.
  • Possession of 609 and 608 air conditioning certifications is advantageous.
Experience:
  • 3-4 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty transit equipment is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated mechanical proficiency and ability to mentor others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Travel Requirements: Less than 5% for occasional on-site repairs.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work flexible shifts as needed.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for manipulation.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions.
